Kathryn Schindel has enjoyed the piano since her first lessons while in kindergarten. She studied with recording artist, Lenore Engdahl, at MacPhail in Minneapolis. She continued taking lessons at St. Olaf where she received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Following graduation she returned to MacPhail and studied with Richard Zgodava.
After a number of years as a pediatric nurse and school nurse, Kathryn took lessons, first in Missouri with Joanna Lange, pianist with the St. Louis Symphony, and then in Illinois with Janice Razaq, artist in residence at Harper Community College. While at Harper she also took additional music courses.
In Illinois, as an active member of the Illinois state and local music organizations, Kathryn served in a number of leadership roles, as well as, running a large studio teaching many students over the years. She is currently living in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, where she is enjoying time with family including four grandchildren. She is an active member of the state and local music organizations and continues to teach lessons and compose.
